For Samuel Armenteros in his last two matches the Swede is sending a message of his readiness to become an all-around and solid starter in the Timbers initial eleven. As mentioned previously in two matches the man has shown his power and sense of a striker. Seeing his career taking a turn for the better now under the direction of manager Giovanni Savarese and his approach to the game after a not-so-positive with Benevento of Serie A. His time in Italy was minimal not seeing much time in the field and just scoring a lone goal in nine matches.
Before his arrival in the Rose City Armenteros had spent a great deal in several European based squads. As his experience in several leagues for Cristiano Samuel Armenteros Nuñez Mendoza its business as usual after seeing himself well settled in the Timbers squad. All of a sudden, we see an awakening of that lethal and dangerous striker he used to be and now he is back with one sole conviction of returning to his old form. In Colorado against the Rapids he delivered with his first double as a Portland Timber.
In the LAFC match he started, an amazing play and speeding toward the north side of Providence he used his skills to beat the Angelinos keeper Tyler Miller for the go-ahead and winning goal of the match. Against the Rapids he might have had if not for goalkeeper Tim Howard’s opportune reaction and stoppage of the play. His double made a whole lot of difference and with his teammate Diego Valeri goal to seal the deal. Once again, he is being the main man contributing to his new club positive run of form, extending its winning streak to six games.
The question arises if he will continue seeing the momentum and extending his scoring drive in the upcoming matches. In addition, the Portland Timbers match against the LA Galaxy at home in Providence Park. This match for sure will be an interesting mano a mano between these clubs two Swedish strikers. For Samuel Armenteros duel against Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be the league highlight of week thirteen.
Still for Samuel, his drive and desires of success in this association and looking so far adapted to its game. His level and experience his paying off for the Portland Timbers that if he continues his scoring momentum and delivering. It will be a fool’s decision for the Rose City team of not exercising his purchase for a long time. Undoubtedly, for Samuel his nose and drive for scoring is back with a bang!
