Vancouver Whitecaps 1-2 Real Salt Lake

VANCOUVER, BC–Things looked bright for Vancouver initially after Javain Brown headed in Julian Gressel’s corner in the 24th minute, but the Whitecaps’ failure to get a second allowed Real Salt Lake to see their goal and double it in a three-minute span.

Justin Glad equalized from the back post on a cross from Maikel Chang in the 70th minute, and then Jefferson Savarino was able to find Damir Kreilach three minutes later to give RSL the lead. It was Kreilach’s first goal since missing most of last season with a back injury. RSL is now 7-0-7 in their last 14 openers (only one of which was at America First Field)–the longest such unbeaten run in MLS.

The Whitecaps will travel to San Jose next Saturday while RSL will travel to Seattle. Both matches at 7:30pm Pacific Time kickoffs on Apple TV.
