New England Revolution 0-LAFC 2

Over 25,000 looked on as the New England Revolution aimed to improve their unbeaten streak to a club record 12 straight matches. However, Los Angeles F.C. showed why they are the overall leading team in league.  It would only take 9 minutes for LAFC to find the back of the net. The Revolution would have a strong first half following the goal, but could not find that final pass and put one by goalkeeper Tyler Miller.

In only the 9th minute of play Diego Rossi would beat his man down the wing and play a perfectly placed lobbed shot over the head of Matt Turner and into the Side netting of the Revolution goal. The Revolution showed determination and grit for the remainder of the first half. Chances were created by the Revs, but they were unable to make that final pass to set up a potential goal.

The second half featured many scoring chances for the visitors . It has seem that they were about to double their lead, but Andrew Farrell would make a goal line clearance to keep the game one to nothing. LAFC continued to controlled play. Dominating with their passing and the speed from their players including Latif Blessing. The shifty midfielder/forward gave the Revolution trouble in the midfield and final third. In the 72nd minute Latif would be rewarded for his efforts as he was able to tuck one by Matt Turner.

LAFC Captain Carlos Vela, the leagues leading scorer, made numerous contributions to the chance created statistic, but was unable to score due to a number of saves by the Revolution goalkeeper late in the game.

Late in the game former player and captain, Lee Nguyen, was brought onto the field as a substitution. A mix of cheers and boos rained down from the Revolution faithful. Nguyen looked sharp as always creating chances from the midfield and nearly had an assist to Captain, Carlos Vela.

Up next for the Revolution comes a trip out west where they will face off against the Seattle Sounders. The Revolution return home on August 24th to host Chicago.
