Philadelphia Union defender Keegan Rosenberry, and goalkeeper Andre Blake have been named to the AT&T MLS All-Star Fan XI, the league announced Saturday. The All-stars will host Arsenal FC at Avaya Stadium on Thursday, July 28th at 7:30 PM EST.
Blake was the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2014, selected by the Philadelphia Union. He has since cemented himself has one of, if not the best goalkeeper in the MLS. In late 2015, Blake earned himself a starting spot, putting in several terrific performances in a time when the Union desperately needed a consistent performer in net. In 2016 Blake has made some plays that even Europe’s elite would be proud of. As the Jamaican international continues to improve, surely some of Europe’s top clubs will look to strengthen their line-up with a player as strong as Blake.
Rosenberry has been a sensation this year. His selection as the 3rd overall pick may have come as a surprise to some, but the Georgetown grad has proven time and again his value to the squad. The right back has played every game so far for the Union, and has displaced veteran Ray Gaddis in a position where few would have suspected Rosenberry would start. He got his first professional goal against the LA Galaxy to equalize the score. His contributions to the team have been deservedly noticed by the league as he gets a nomination in his first professional season.
