In her first professional home game Rose Lavelle showed why she went number one overall in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. Making a run up the left, Lavelle cut a ball to the right side finding a charging Natasha Dowie who finished for the only goal of the match. Besides assisting on the game winning goal, Lavelle could be seen all over the field. Known for getting the wins through total team efforts, the unselfish plays of Lavelle blended flawlessly with the rest of the squad, aiding in Boston’s first win of the season.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rose Lavelle attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she was named First Team All-Big Ten four years running. While Lavelle was called up to the United States National Team in 2015, her debut came this March where she was named player of the match despite the 1-0 loss to England.
A Prost to Rose Lavelle!
*The Prost Eisen Frauen (Iron Women) award is given by Prost Amerika to “the toughest women on the field” each week. Not just for a spectacular goal or incredible save, it’s in recognition of a game’s worth of work. The athlete chosen is one that impacts the match through their dedication to winning every play. Each week five athletes (one from each of the games played) will be up for nomination.
The award is voted on by the writers/photographers of Prost Amerika who cover the NWSL, as well as the Supporter Groups of each team.
