New England Revolution trades pick in 2015 MLS SuperDraft to Seattle Sounders FC for rights to Sean Okoli
Revs trade 33rd pick in SuperDraft to Sounders FC in exchange for rights to second-year forward
FOXBOROUGH – The New England Revolution acquired the rights to forward Sean Okoli after trading their second round pick (33rd overall) to Seattle Sounders FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft on January 15. The Revolution holds a further pick in the third round (47th overall) of the SuperDraft which will be held via conference call on Tuesday, January 20.
The 21-year-old Federal Way, Wash. native played for the Sounders FC Academy and U-23s before signing with Seattle as a Homegrown player on January 8, 2014. Okoli made three appearances for the Sounders in 2014, including his MLS debut in the club’s season opener on March 8, 2014.
Collegiately, Okoli enjoyed a three-year career at Wake Forest University. While playing for the Demon Deacons Okoli earned All-ACC honors in all three seasons he attended the college, scoring 24 goals and contributing nine assists.
While playing at Wake Forest, Okoli also played in the USL PDL with the Seattle Sounders FC U-23 side in 2012 and 2013. He was also one of the first Academy players to play for the Sounders reserve side in the MLS Reserve League in 2011.
