The New England Revolution looked to take full advantage of a snowy Foxborough on Saturday evening. However a late rally by the opposition would send the Revs to the locker room without a point for the first time this season.
The Revolution welcomed Real Salt Lake to Gillette Stadium on a night filled with snowfall. The blizzard like conditions impacted both sides, but the Revs were able to jump ahead in the first half. In the 48th minute, Emmanuel Boateng would find a loose ball in the box and direct it into the goal, giving the Revs the lead right before the end of the first half stoppage time.
The second half started with more of the same. The Revs continued to apply pressure on the RSL backbone and were finally rewarded once again. This time it was newcomer Jozy Altidore who headed home his first goal in the Revolution uniform. The 62nd minute goal gave the Revolution a 2-0 lead.
However, Salt Lake did not leave quietly. In just a span of 10 minutes, RSL would find the back of the net twice with Cordova and Glad finding ways to beat Edwards Jr. in the 78th and 88th minute respectively.
Moments later it was heartbreak for the Revolution side with Tate Schmitt scoring for Salt Lake with seconds left in the match.
The Revolution move to 1-1-1 on the season and look to bounce back with a strong second leg match vs Pumas this Wednesday.
