Revolution sign goalkeeper Henrich Ravas from Widzew Łódź

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have signed goalkeeper Henrich Ravas from Ekstraklasa side Widzew Łódź.

He will occupy a senior roster slot.

Henrich Ravas is a 26-year-old, 6’5, 192lb goalkeeper from Senica, Slovakia.

At the club level, Ravas has played 131 career games (11,850 minutes) across Slovakia, England, and Poland. Ravas began his career with Slovak side Spartak Myjava (2014), before moving to England to play for Peterborough United (2014-2015), Boston United (2015-2016), and Derby County (2016-2021). During his time with Derby, Ravas went on 2 loans at Gainsborough Trinity (2017-2018), Hartlepool United (2020-2021), then returned to Slovakia to FK Senica (2021-2022) before moving to Poland to play for Widzew Łódź (2022-2024).

Internationally, Ravas has never made an appearance for Slovakia. However, he has been called up on three occasions, most recently in December for Slovakia’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign for matches versus Luxembourg and Bosnia Herzegovina.

In career numbers, the goalkeeper has allowed 210 career goals against while securing 32 career clean sheets. He has only received 2 yellow cards in his career.

According to Journalist @bakoskaut on Twitter on December 19th, an un-named MLS team had offered 500,000 PLN ($126,100) for 26-year-old Slovakian Goalkeeper Henrich Ravas.

Just 8 days later, it was confirmed that MLS side Portland Timbers were one of the clubs interested in the goalkeeper’s signature.

The following day, Journalist Seth Macomber of The Blazing Musket had announced that the New England Revolution had won the race and were set to sign Ravas.

He will join a New England Revolution roster with 3 first team goalkeepers. (Jacob Jackson, Tomáš Vaclík, and Earl Edwards Jr.)

With Caleb Porter named as the New England Revolution’s new Head Coach, the Revolution can now look to prepare before the start of their 2024 MLS campaign. Preseason is set to begin on Saturday, January 13th when players report to the Revolution Training Center for entrance physicals and testing. They kick off training on January 15th and are set to travel to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on Sunday, January 21st for multiple weeks of preseason in preparation for their 2024 campaign.
