FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are set to sign midfielder Ian Harkes to the club’s MLS roster.
He will occupy a senior roster slot.
Ian Andrew Harkes is a 28-year-old, 5’10, 170lb Central Defensive Midfielder from Derby, United Kingdom.
At the club level, Harkes has played 204 career games (15,159 minutes) across the United States with D.C. United (2017-2018) and in Scotland with Dundee United (2019-2023). He now joins his 3rd professional club in New England. Internationally, Harkes has made 2 international appearances for the U20 United States Men’s National Team. In 2018 he had his first callup for a friendly versus Bosnia and Herzegovina. He remains eligible for England (Born in Derby), along with Scotland (via Grandparent’s heritage).
In career numbers, the midfielder has contributed 16 career goals, 15 assists, along with 16 yellow cards and 1 red card.
On July 3rd, Washington Post insider Steven Goff had reported that Ian Harkes was set to return stateside and sign with the New England Revolution. Due to D.C. United holding the player’s discovery rights, the Revolution will be sending their second-round pick in 2024 MLS draft and $50,000 in conditional 2024 GAM.

Harkes is set to join the club when the summer transfer window opens on July 5th.
The New England Revolution (10-7-3, 37 pts.) head out to Harrison, NJ to face MLS Eastern Conference side New York Red Bulls Cincinnati (5-8-7, 23 pts.) in an MLS Match on Saturday, July 8th. The match kicks off in TQL Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
