On July 10th, 2023, the New England Revolution announced that forward Tomás Chancalay would join the team on loan from Racing Club de Avellaneda for the remainder of the 2023 season with options to extend the loan further.

Chancalay was off to a stellar start for New England, as he tallied 6 goals in 13 matches (1029 minutes).

Due to his on-field success, Argentinian Journalist César Luis Merlo is reporting that the Revolution are set to sign Chancalay on a permanent basis.

Sources close to me confirmed that Chancalay will be signing as a Designated Player due to a complete contract restructure and high transfer fee.

Chancalay will be the 13th Designated Player in New England Revolution history.

He joins Milton Caraglio (2011), Shalrie Joseph (2012), Jerry Bengston (2012-2014), Jermaine Jones (2014-2015), José Gonçalves (2016) , Xavier Kouassi (2016-2017), Kei Kamara (2016-2017), Claude Dielna (2018), Carles Gil (2019-Present), Gustavo Bou (2019-2023), Adam Buksa (2020-2022), and Giacomo Vrioni (2022-Present) on the clubs all-time Designated Players List.

The New England Revolution look to have their sights set on acquiring their coveted MLS Cup in the upcoming 2024 MLS campaign. For all MLS content, you can find it on the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
