Revolution holds coaching discussions with Porter, express interest in Fraser, Kinnear, Bradley

Foxborough, MA – The New England Revolution have held coaching discussions with current free agent Coach Caleb Porter.

The club has reportedly also expressed interest in free agent Coach Robin Fraser, current FC Cincinnati Assistant Coach Dominic Kinnear, and current Stabæk Head Coach Bob Bradley.

According to a tweet by Seth Macomber of The Blazing Musket, The New England Revolution have held Head Coaching discussions with Caleb Porter and have expressed interest in Robin Fraser and Dominic Kinnear.

Tommy Quinlan of WPRO was the first to report on Caleb Porter earlier today. He is also reporting that a source has confirmed that the club has reached out to Stabæk FC for Head Coach Bob Bradley.

The 4 have all left massive impacts throughout their careers in Major League Soccer in Assistant and Head Coaching roles.

Caleb Porter, 48, has 23 years of coaching experience and been coaching in Major League Soccer since 2013. He began his career as an Assistant Coach for the Indiana Hoosiers (2000-2005). During his time with Indiana, Porter helped them to 3 Conference Tournament Championships, 6 Regular Season Championships, 6 NCAA Tournament appearances, and 2 NCAA Tournament Titles. Following his time with Indiana, Porter moved on to   become the Head Coach of the Akron Zips (2006-2012). During his time in Akron, Porter led the Zips to 5 Conference Tournament Championships, 7 Regular Season Championships, 7 NCAA Tournament appearances, and 1 NCAA Tournament Championship. After his time with the Zips, Porter left his collegiate coaching career for the United States Men’s National Team U23s (2012-2013). He coached there for two seasons before moving on to Major League Soccer. In his first MLS gig, Porter was hired by the Portland Timbers (2013-2017). While with the Timbers, Porter held an 85W-57D-60L record (42.08%-win percentage). He went on to win MLS Coach of the Year in 2013 and won the MLS Cup with Portland in 2015. Following his mutually agreed separation from Portland in 2017, Porter took two years off and then was hired in January of 2019 to replace Gregg Berhalter for the Columbus Crew (2019-2022). While in Columbus, Porter held a 52W-39D-46L record (37.96%-win percentage). He won the 2020 MLS Cup and 2021 Campeones Cup with Columbus. Following the end of the 2022 MLS season, after missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season, Porter was fired by the Crew.

He has yet to coach a team since his departure from Columbus.

In career remarks, Porter holds a 137W-96D-106L record (40.41% win-percentage) as a head coach in Major League Soccer.

Robin Fraser, 56, has 16 years of coaching experience and been coaching in Major League Soccer since 2007. Fraser began his coaching career as a Third Assistant Coach with Real Salt Lake (2007-2011). During his time with Real Salt Lake, Fraser assisted RSL to an MLS Cup Trophy in 2009. In January of 2011, Fraser was hired by Chivas USA. He was the club’s 6th coach in 7 seasons. He was dismissed by Chivas after a 14-match winless streak and a 18W-21D-34L record (24.66 win-percentage) across two seasons. During the offseason, Fraser returned back to assistant coaching, and joined the New York Red Bulls. Fraser helped win the 2015 Supporters Shield with New York. After two seasons in New York, Fraser left for another assistant role, but this time with Toronto FC (2015-2019). During his time in Toronto, Fraser helped lead Toronto to a Supporters Shield title in 2015 and an MLS Cup Title in 2017. During the 2019 offseason, Fraser left for the Head Coaching position for the Colorado Rapids (2019-2023). During his time in Colorado, Fraser held a 46W-34D-49L record (35.66 win-percentage).

During the 2023 season, the Rapids parted ways with Fraser in an effort to clean house. It is presumed that Fraser took the fall after receiving a shaky squad from management.

In career remarks, Fraser holds a 64W-55D-83L record (31.68% win-percentage) as a head coach in Major League Soccer.

Dominic Kinnear, 56, has 23 years of coaching experience. He has started and remained coaching in Major League Soccer since 2001. Kinnear began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach for the San Jose Earthquakes (2001-2003). He was involved in leading the San Jose Earthquakes to 2 MLS Cup Finals titles, in 2001 and 2003. After Head Coach Frank Yallops departure in 2004, Kinnear was later appointed the Head Coach of the San Jose Earthquakes (2004-2005). He held a 31W-23D-19L record (42.427% win-percentage) and led the Earthquakes to a Supporters Shield title in 2005. Shortly after the completion of the 2005 season, Kinnear moved with San Jose as they relocated to Houston and were renamed the Houston Dynamo. While with Houston Dynamo (2005-2014), Kinnear held a 152W-107D-117L record (40.43% win-percentage). He led Houston to 2 MLS Cup Titles in 2006 and 2007. After the 2014 season, Kinnear resigned as Houston Dynamo Head Coach. After his resignation, Kinnear joined the NEW San Jose Earthquakes (2014-2017). During his stint with the New Earthquakes, he held a 28W-28D-33L record (31.46% win-percentage). He was fired in 2017. Following his release from San Jose, Kinnear became an Assistant Coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy (2017-2020). During his time in LA, he was named interim twice. Once in 2018, where he held a 3W-1D-2L record (50.00% win-percentage) and once in 2020, where he held a 1W-1D-1L (33.33% win-percentage). Kinnear left the Galaxy at the end of the 2022 season. Entering the 2022 campaign, Head Coach Pat Noonan hired Kinnear as Assistant Coach of FC Cincinatti (2022-Present). Kinnear has remained in this position and helped lead FC Cincinatti to a Supporters Shield title in 2023.

In historic remarks, Kinnear holds a 215W-160D-172L record (39.31% win-percentage) and is 5th all time in Major League Soccer wins with 170.

Bob Bradley, 65, has 42 years of coaching experience. Bradley began his coaching career as Head Coach of the Ohio Bobcats (1981-82). After two seasons, Bradley left the Bobcats to become Assistant Coach and Scout of the Virginia Cavaliers (1983-84). Following his two-year stint in Virginia, Bradley left the Cavs for the Head Coaching role at his alma mater, the Princeton Tigers (1984-1995). He led the Tigers to 2 Ivy League Titles. Entering the 1996 campaign, Bradley left the Tigers for the United States Men’s National Team U23s (1996). After one season, Bradley returned as an Assistant Coach under Bruce Arena, this time, at D.C. United (1996-1997). During his time with D.C. United, Bradley helped assist the squad to 2 MLS Cup Titles in 1996 and 1997. After his Assistant Coaching role, Bradley moved on to become Head Coach of the Chicago Fire (1997-2002). During his time with the Fire, Bradley held a 103W-33D-61L record (52.28% win-percentage). He led the fire to an MLS Cup title in 1998 and 2 US Open Cup Titles in 1998 and 2000. After the 2002 season, Bradley resigned as Head Coach of the Fire and was hired as Head Coach of the New York/New Jersey Metrostars (2002-2005). During his time with the MetroStars, Bradley held a 36W-27D-37L record (36.00% win-percentage). With 3 games remainin gin the 2005 season, Bradley was fired by the MetroStars. Just before the 2006 season, he was then hired as the Head Coach of Chivas USA. While with Chivas USA, held a 11W-14D-10L record (31.43% win-percentage). Following his time with Chivas, Bradley left for the United States Men’s National Team U23s (2006-2007), and then was elevated to Head Coach of the United States Men’s National Team (2006-2011). As Head Coach of the USMNT, Bradley held a 43W-12D-25L record (53.75% win-percentage). He helped lead the USMNT to a Gold Cup Trophy in 2007. In July of 2018, Bradley was relieved as duties of USMNT Head Coach. Just 4 months later, Bradley was hired to become Head Coach of the Egypt Men’s National Team (2011-2014). While with Egypt, Bradley held a 22W-6D-8L record (61.11% win-percentage). Following the 2014 World Cup, Egypt released Bradley, and he moved on to become the Head Coach of Stabæk FC (2014-2015). He held a 38W-11D-23L record (52.78% win-percentage) with the club. Following the completion of the 2015 season, Bradley left Stabæk and was hired as Head Coach of Ligue 2 side Le Havre AC (2015-2016). While with Le Havre, Bradley held a 17W-10D-10L record (45.95% win-percentage). After the final 2016 league match, Bradley left Le Havre and was appointed Head Coach of Swansea City (2016). He held a 2W-2D-7L record (18.18%-win percentage). He was dismissed after 85 days in charge. Following his departure from Swansea, he was named the inaugural Head Coach of LAFC (2017-2021). While with LAFC, Bradley held a 68W-34D-40L record (47.89%-win percentage). During his time, he helped LAFC to win the Supporter’s Shield in 2019. He parted ways with the club in 2021. Shortly after parting ways, Bradley was hired as the new Head Coach of Toronto FC (2021-2023). While with Toronto, Bradley held a 14W-19D-26L record (23.73% win-percentage). While with the club, Bradley led Toronto to a Canadian Championship in 2020 (match played in 2022). The club parted ways with Bradley after a 3W-10D-4L start to the 2023 campaign. After his departure, Bradley returned to Stabæk FC (2023-present). While with Stabæk, Bradley has held a 3W-4D-4L record (27.27% win-percentage). Currently, Bradley is contracted through the end of the 2023 season but has gotten Stabæk relegated during this stint.

In Individual Honors, Bradley is a 3x MLS Coach of the Year. He also won Eliteserien Manager of the Year in 2015. He is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2014.

In career remarks, Bradley holds a 357W-172D-251L record (45.77% win-percentage). He is 3rd-all time in Major League Soccer wins with 191 career wins.
