FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution head coach has announced that 21-year-old forward Dylan Borrero is out for the remainder of the 2023 season.

During the Revolution’s 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati, forward Dylan Borrero went down with a non-contact left knee injury that forced him to be substituted from the match.

On Tuesday, Bruce Arena announced to the media that, “it’s really a difficult injury. We feel for Borrero. He was just starting to move forward as a player. Obviously, he is very promising. We’ll get him back next year. I’m afraid he’s going to have to deal with rehab for the rest of 2023.”

Borrero has made 20 appearances (14 starts) for the New England Revolution since his arrival in 2022. He has tallied 5 goals and 3 assists on 35 total shots (13 on target). He has a two-year consistency of 78% pass accuracy with the club and has tallied 2 yellow cards and 1 red card in his Revolution career.

The Revolution are allowed to sign another U22 initiative player as long as their salary budget charge does not exceed Borrero’s.

The Summer transfer window is set to open on July 5th and will run until August 2nd.

The New England Revolution (6-2-1, 20 pts.) head to Canada to face Eastern Conference side Toronto FC (2-6-2, 12 pts) at BMO Field on Saturday, May 6. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
