A wednesday afternoon matchup would see two Eastern Conference rivals face off for the third time this season. The New England Revolution would play host to the Montreal Impact, looking to get back to winning ways. The Revolution would field a very strong lineup with midfielder Matt Polster returning from suspension being available from the bench.
The first half featured a number of chances from the Revs, generating corner kicks, but could not seem to find the back of the net. As time ran down in the first stanza a loose ball in the Montreal box found the foot of rookie Henry Kessler. Kessler would make no mistake and blast one into the net giving his team a 1-0 lead right before halftime.
In the second half the Revolution would show their dominance. They would outshoot their opponents 11-2, and would add on two more goals. Gustavo Bou and Diego Fagundez were both able to break their goal scoring droughts and help their team to a win. Revolution forward Tajon Buchanan would continue his recent success, earning an assist on the Fagundez goal.
A late Montreal goal against the run of play would erase the Revolution clean sheet, but would not be enough as the Revs held on for a 3-1 victory.
This win marks the first 3 goal game of the 2020 season for the Revs as well as their first home win of the year.
Up next for the Revolution is a trip to Washington D.C. to face off against D.C. United on Sunday night.
