FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution eMLS player, João Afonso Vasconcelos “Jafonso” was eliminated in the quarterfinals of eMLS League Series One.
Following an electrifying start to League Series One, Jafonso had the best group stage in the history of New England Revolution eMLS.
With an 8W-0L-2D record and a +36 goal differential, Jafonso finished in 1st place in League Series One.

Entering the knockout stages as the #1 seed, Jafonso was matched up against Atlanta United gaming’s Paulo Neto after he had defeated LAFC’s Pabs in the Round of 16 by a score of 3-2.
Their match resulted in a 4-3 victory for Paulo Neto.

With the loss, Jafonso was eliminated in the quarterfinals of League Series One. This is the furthest any New England Revolution eMLS athlete has ever gone in the history of eMLS. (JKO1707 & YoungggCarter never qualified for knockout rounds of any League Series Tournament). Through qualifying, group, and final stage play, Jafonso finished with a 14W-1L-4D record in League Series One.
With his victory, Atlanta United’s Paulo Neto would go on to defeat NYCFC’s Olle Arbin (3-2) & Austin FC’s Diogo Mendes (5-1) enroute to an eMLS record 4th Championship.
Jafonso will look to continue his eMLS Cup push as he is set to compete in League Series Two. The competition takes place on March 4th.
