FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have loaned defender Ben Reveno to Birmingham Legion FC for 2023 USL Championship season.

Defender Ben Reveno was drafted by the New England Revolution in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft in the 2nd round (52nd overall). Following the draft, Reveno signed his first professional contract with the New England Revolution II in February of 2022. In 20 appearances (17 starts) for the squad, Reveno tallied over 1,500 minutes for the MLS NEXT Pro squad.

On May 25th, 2022, Head coach Bruce Arena brought Reveno up to the first team to start alongside defender Jon Bell in the Revolution’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match versus New York City FC at Belson Stadium in Jamaica, NY. The match ended with NYCFC coming away with the 1-0 victory after extra-time.
Due to his impressive performance at Belson Stadium, the San Jose, CA native signed to a first team contract on May 31st, 2022.
Reveno made one MLS appearance during his time with the first team, coming on as a substitute in the New England Revolution’s 2-1 victory on June 19th, 2022, versus Minnesota United at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
On March 4th, 2023, the team announced via all social media platforms that the team had loaned Reveno to Birmingham Legion FC for the entirety of the 2023 USL Championship season. He will wear the #2 for the club.

Ben joins a Birmingham Legion side that is filled with ex-Revolution coaching staff members and even former players. Currently, Reveno joins former Revolution head coach Jay Heaps (2011-2017) who currently acts as the president and general manager of the club. Also in Birmingham is former Revolution assistant (2014-2017) and interim head coach (2017) Tom Soehn who serves as the team’s head coach and technical director. Rounding off the coaching staff in Birmingham is former Revolution player Khano Smith (2005-2008, 2010) who is the assistant coach of the team. Along with that trio, former Revolution forward Juan Agudelo (2015-2019), and goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg (2015) actively play for the squad.

Birmingham Legion FC is set to begin their USL Championship campaign on Saturday March 11th, at 7:30 p.m. versus the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, who have former New England Revolution 1st round, 24th overall 2021 MLS SuperDraft pick Edward Kizza. The match can be viewed on ESPN+,
