The New England Revolution would play host to FC Cincinnati, Saturday night, to conclude yet another three match week. The Revolution continue to produce offensively even without playmaker Carles Gil. Forwards Tajon Buchanan, Gustavo Bou, and Adam Buksa remained red hot, all contributing in New England’s 4-1 victory against Cincinnati.
After a slow start to Wednesday’s match, it didn’t take the Revs long to get started tonight. They would come out of the gates firing, creating multiple chances early. In just the 7th minute it was a chance created by Ema Boateng and Henry Kessler that ultimately would lead to Tajon Buchanan finding the back of the net.
Minutes later, the favor would be returned. Buchanan raced into the box before firing a low cross that was finished off by Boateng to give the Revs a 2-0 lead within 20 minutes.
Before halftime, it was the Revs who struck again. After a quick stumble, Buksa was able to regain composure and dribble around the defender before slotting one into the side netting. This would mark Buksa’s 9th goal of the year. The Revolution would go into the break up 3-0, fiercely outplaying their opposition.
However, FC Cincinnati would not go away easily. A quick start to the second half and after a number of chances the Revs would concede. A goal by Brenner would cut the lead to 3-1.
It would only take the Revolution 6 minutes to answer as a great play by Gustavo Bou was finished by Adam Buksa for his second of the game and 10th of the season. Buksa and Bou now have a combined 22 goals between them.
The Revolution would hold that lead to the end. A nine point week for the Revs as they remain atop the Eastern Conference with 49 points. A win for Orlando City sees them into second place at 34 points.
