Inter Miami could be about to make a marquee signing.
That’s according to Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald, who claims attacking midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro is headed for South Florida.
The Monterrey star has been linked with Inter for some time, and it now looks as though Diego Alonso will get his man, with reports claiming the buy-out, as well as personal terms, have been agreed.
The report goes on to say Pizarro could arrive in Miami as early as this week, giving him more than two weeks of preparation with his new team ahead of the new season.
Alonso worked with Pizarro last season, the pair winning the CONCACAF Champions League together.
The attacking midfielder is also a also a Mexico international, earning 25 caps for his country at senior level so far.
The signing would come a boost for Inter, who lost forward Julian Carranza to injury for 10-12 weeks earlier this week.
Though, they won’t be satisfied with only Pizarro’s arrival, with the Miami Herald report also claiming a high-profile European star is also being perused.
The player isn’t named, but Miami does have the capacity with two designated player spots still to fill – or one if the Pizarro deal does go ahead.
“We have two franchise spots left to fill, and I am sure they will get here,” head coach Alonso said recently. “We are working hard on that, and we have ideas of who they are, but we don’t talk about players who are not here.”
Inter open their campaign against reigning Supporters’ Shield champions LAFC on March 1st.
