Seattle Reign FC finished 2015 as NWSL Shield winners and ten points clear of the runner up. After a dominating year, the Reign then went and defeated Washington Spirit to move on to the NWSL Championship.
Now, as the final approaches the accolades officially have come in. Head Coach Laura Harvey was voted Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Four Reign players placed in the Best XI with four more in the second XI.
Midfielder Jess Fishlock garnered her 3rd consecutive nod with fellow midfielder Kim Little grabbing her second. Defender Lauren Barnes and Forward Beverly Yanez both making the list gave representation for the Reign on all three lines.
The second XI added two more of Seattle’s back line in Kendall Fletcher and Stephanie Cox, as well as two more midfielders with Keelin Winters and Megan Rapinoe getting nods.
Team success brings individual accolades. Having eight starters be ranked among the top twenty field players for a season is what happens following the sort of season Seattle had in 2015.
