In a 94 minute match, the Toronto FC imposed their own style of soccer facing a tired Impact FC. The first 30 minutes of the match was very equitable, until the 40th minute, with a successful penalty shot by Sebastian Giovinco.
Both teams went into half time with an uncertainty as to who would get the 3 points this afternoon. The game was played under a sunny but a slightly cold day.
Notwithstanding the efforts of the prime figures, Mauro Biello’s team was not capable to stop the TFC offense and at the 80th minute, the same Giovinco took care of removing all hope for the black and blues to win this encounter.
With a Saputo Stadium at full capacity, stars like Didier Drogba or Ignacio Piatti, didn’t step up and show their fans what we expect from them every week.
So, the bell did not ring this afternoon in Montreal, but leaves a good lesson for future matches.
Very important to mention, Sebastian Giovinco becomes one of the three top goal leaders in the MLS with 6 goals, Giovinco left the field at the 88th minute to be replaced by Babouli.
The referee signaled the end of the match at the 94th minute with IMFC leaving the field with great uncertainty for all as to what is the best formula they need to come up with in order to outperform the other teams and gain back their standing in first place in the Eastern conference.
Let’s see what they bring to the table in their next match away against New York City FC on April 30 at 7PM Eastern time.
