CHICAGO, IL–The Chicago Red Stars released their fixture list for their 11th season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and 15th overall. The season will start on Saturday, March 25th against San Diego Wave at 9pm CT. The home opener at SeatGeek Stadium will take place seven days later with a 1pm CT kickoff time against Houston Dash.
One significant change to the schedule is that the NWSL Challenge Cup will run concurrently with the season. The Red Stars will be in the Central Division with Houston, Racing Louisville, and Kansas City City. The first of the Challenge Cup matches for the Red Stars will be on May 3rd at Houston. They will play each team within their division home and away. The first three Challenge Cup fixture will be midweek affairs while the next three will occur during the Women’s World Cup.
League play will see a 22-match schedule playing each team in the league home and away. League play itself will pause from July 7th thru August 20th. Six of the 11 league home fixtures will be on Saturdays and the other five on Sundays. Television and streaming information will be announced at a later date.
The regular season runs through October 15th when all 12 teams will play on the final day in a first for the league. The top six will make the NWSL Playoffs with the quarterfinals on October 22nd, the semifinals on November 4th, and the NWSL Championship taking place on Saturday, November 11th.
