CHICAGO, IL–The Chicago Red Stars have appointed Kim Vender Moffat as chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the club after the board ousted Arnim Whisler for his complacency and failure to deter the ‘culture of fear’ former head coach Rory Dames created according to the Yates Report.
Chief Business Office Vicky Lynch has resigned her post from the club and former Chicago Fire VP of Sales and Revenue Mike Ernst has been appointed interim CBO and will assist in the planning for the 2023 season. Ernst had been working in an advisory role with the Red Stars since July after 14 years with the Fire.
Moffat joined the ownership group in 2021 and said in the press release that Ernst is to provide “a steady hand to add stability during this time of transition” and that Ernst brings valuable experience as a respected leader who has a reputation of collaboration, transparency and team building throughout his career.
“I am excited to get to work on behalf of the Chicago Red Stars organization in this role,” said Ernst in the press release. “I recognize that this is a challenging time, but it is also a time for opportunity to work together in concert with the board, team and front office staff to build a club that everyone can be proud of.”
Before 2023 can begin, there is the business of the NWSL Playoffs this year as the Red Stars will start the first round at San Diego Wave on Sunday at 9pm CT on CBS Sports Network.
