Colorado Rapids 2-1 FC Dallas

COMMERCE CITY, CO–The Colorado Rapids continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win over FC Dallas at on a cold night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The win puts them joint-second in the Western Conference table along with LAFC and Real Salt Lake and just one point behind conference leaders Vancouver.

Colorado pressed for the opener for most of the first half and they were finally rewarded just before halftime when Cole Bassett’s low cross was accidentally deflected in by Dallas’s Sebastien Ibehaga for an own goal to put the Rapids ahead.

The Rapids doubled their lead four minutes into the second half when Calvin Harris got on the end of a Kevin Cabral cross. Harris settled it and shot and it pinballed off both Dallas’s Maarten Paes and Sam Junqua to tilt things more towards the host’s favor.

However, FC Dallas was not going to go away and in the 87th minute, pulled a goal back. Liam Fraser’s cross was met by Petar Musa and Musa would beat Zak Steffen far post to make it 2-1. That would be as close as FC Dallas would get, though, as the Rapids would hold on for the three points and continue their great run under Chris Armas.

Next Saturday, the Rapids travel to FC Cincinnati. Kickoff is at 5:30pm MT on Apple TV as part of the MLS Season Pass.
