A little late, but worth the wait! Radio Cascadia Ep. 40 arrives in time for this weekend’s Cascadia derby in Seattle.
Niall McCusker joins from Portland to discuss his trip to New York City, where the Timbers rode Dairon Asprilla’s first goal in green to a 1-0 win over NYCFC. Just what was it that kicked the visitors into gear after the break? How’s the view from the press box behind home plate? Niall addresses each, before moving onto the Portland perspective of the derby. With Chad Marshall suspended, perhaps Fanendo Adi can find success in the air against Zach Scott and Brad Evans; perhaps the speed of Portland’s front four will be too much for Seattle to handle.
Giordan Bonanno takes a different view in our rave green preview of the match, declaring that Seattle’s experience and superiority in the center of the park will overwhelm the Timbers. Steven Agen and Zach Thatcher take more moderate stances, but see the Dempsey-Martins combination as a stern test for Nat Borchers and Liam Ridgewell.
Aaron Campbell calls in from Vancouver to quiet down all this derby talk. With another 1-0 victory on the road, there’s never been a better time to talk about the Vancouver Whitecaps. Leading the Western Conference, the Caps host DC United this weekend. Aaron reviews the impressive win at (9-man) RSL, and previews the interconference clash on Saturday. He’s kind enough to stick around and toss in his two cents about the big game on Sunday, building an argument for the best result for Vancouver.
It’s derby week, and Ep. 40 has your complete preview from every Cascadian perspective.
