Julie King of the Boston Breakers was voted Prost’s Eisen Frauen of the week for her strong presence during their match against FC Kansas City last Sunday. King muscled her way around players to keep possession for Boston who came out with their first win of the season.
A native of Missouri King not only played soccer at Auburn University, but also a single season of basketball for the Tigers. King has been with the Breakers since 2012, first in the WPSL Elite before the creation of the NWSL. A solid defender she consistently disrupts attacks and makes trouble for any offense.
A Prost to Julie King!
*The Prost Eisen Frauen (Iron Women) award is given by Prost Amerika to an outstanding player each week. Not just for a spectacular goal or incredible save, it’s in recognition of a game’s worth of work. The athlete chosen is one that impacts the match through their dedication to winning every play. Each week five athletes (one from each of the games played) will be up for nomination.
The award is voted on by the writers/photographers of Prost Amerika who cover the NWSL, as well as the Supporter Groups of the teams.
