Tottenham managed to secure its first win of the season against Crystal Palace in week 2. The side can now breath a sigh of relief heading an early season showdown with reloaded Liverpool.
Victor Wanyama came through with the winning goal in his first match at home for the Hotspurs. The match was deadlock at zero until the 82nd minute when the Southampton transfer headed one home. Its his first this season.
Tottenham controlled possession much of the game, and the goal tally could have been higher had a few chance curved in their favor. In total the side put out 20 shots on goal with only 5 coming on target. The attack looked more open compared to last week’s draw against Everton.
Crystal Palace struggled again for a second week in a row and still have yet to register a point on the table this season. Midfielder Yahon Cabaye gave the side life after he subbed in for Joe Ledley at the beginning of the second half. Palace best chance to score came in the 53rd minute. Ledley had a opportunity in front of goal that sailed right. He also created another opportunity in the 60 minute, but missed wide.
Next week, the Hotspurs host Liverpool at White Lane. Tottenham has a opportunity to increase its momentum heading into the September and can possibly jump into the top 4 early in this campaign.
