Following a disappointing end to their Gold Cup run against Sporting Kansas City, Minnesota United play host to Club Leon from Mexico’s Liga MX.
Miguel Ibarra will be making his return Minnesota for the first time since his departure last summer. Leon finished third last season in Liga MX, with only 5 points separating them from Pumas UNAM the league’s top squad.
United will have their hands tied trying to defend Leon striker Mauro Boselli, who lead the club in goals scored last campaign with 13. No other player on the squad came close to the number on their squad.
The duo of Christian Ramirez and Ben Speas seemed unstoppable when both were on the field at the same time during the Spring. But fullback Kevin Venegas has showed his value this season, leading the team in assist.
