San Jose 3, Portland Timbers 0
Coming to the match the Portland Timbers were sure of netting their first win of the season. By playing a struggling and winless San Jose Earthquakes, the odds were within the Timbers reach.
However, the San Jose squad was ready for this match and these deliver a hurtful loss to the Portland squad. With all the right moves made by the Quakes debutante manager Matias Almeyda, the Silicon Valley squad played like its old days.
For the Quakes Boss started with three notable players that made the impact he desired in this match.
With Shea Salinas opening the score after a nice, service from Cristian Espinoza who took Portland defender Jorge Villafaña going around him and finding Salinas to deliver the game first score in the 15’ minute.
Contrary to San Jose manager, the Timbers manager Giovanni Savarese did not made any bold moves in his formation sending his ineffective 4-2-3-1 formation that in the end exposed many problems.
With an anemic first half, the Portland Timbers gave their host a reason to go wild in this match. By exposing its defensive, disarray as well a lack of creativity and determination in its starting eleven.
San Jose immediately knew its foes weakness and capitalized on the course of the whole match.
Still there was more to come from these suddenly hardened Quakes. With back to back goals in the 33’ minute by Danny Hoesen making his first start and a minute later in the 34’ via Cristian Espinosa.
Teamwork wins games; this is something that Portland lacked in this match, very well their last week performance both offensively and defensively was far from their previous match against the LA Galaxy.
In the end when manager Giovanni Savarese was, ask about this match, the man made a heartfelt apology to this squad one of a kind fans and promising hard work and positive results.
In Gio we trust!

Highlights of the Match
In the course of the game Jorge Moreira, his performances are becoming better but for sure, he can step up his game and become a headache to opposing strikers.
Jeff Attinella in spite of the three goals allowed the man could not make it alone with a whopping 10 saves the man prevented a goal fest from the San Jose side.
In the end despite the loss I salute, the Portland Timbers fans that have shown their unmeasured loyalty by attending all of their away games regardless of the results.
