Sunday night in Lumen Field, things didn’t look good for Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson after he was carried out in a stretcher in the 12th minute in what looked like a serious injury.

Today, the Timbers announced that Eryk Williamson will miss the remainder of the season after MRI results shown a torn ACL on his left knee. As he will undergo surgery next week, his return will be determined following his procedure.

So far, Williamson has made an impact since taking over the starting role in the defensive midfield with Diego Chara, both being so effective in neutralizing other teams’ attacks.

In his time with the Timbers, he has tallied four goals and seven assists in 42 appearances (31 starts) in three seasons with the Timbers. In 2021, he recorded one goal and two assists. In this match on the road against San Jose, it was his first match delivering two assists.

In addition of his debut with the U.S. Men’s Nationals Team earlier this summer, adding one assist in four appearances (2 starts) at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, where Team USA won the tournament.
