Portland Timbers at a glance

In Century Link Field, is to take place Part II of the always-contested edition of the Cascadia Derby. For the Portland Timbers, looking to come with a win in Emerald City in a place where is been difficult for them.  This time they have some advantage in their side with a squad depleted with many notable of its players with injuries. In addition the Emerald City squad are having an odd campaign beset by injuries and poor performances. Maybe in this round two of the Derby we can see the Rose City Boys coming high with win.

Currently the Portland squad is playing one amazing game of football. Especially defensively and if the backfield deliver again, a win may be within their reaches. As you recall their backfield stopped at Atlanta known for its offensive might.  In addition, Seattle might not be familiar with many of the new faces in Portland’s lineup for this game which could make things even more difficult at home.

The Portland Timbers a win can deliver another away series with a positive note.  Once again manager Giovanni Savarese may be full of surprises with his 4-3-2-1 formation to counter a possibly resurgent Seattle offensive game.

Seattle Sounders at a glance

It has been a troublesome campaign for Seattle manager Brian Schmetzer and his side. His Sounders have struggled since day one and barely holding an anemic lead over last place San Jose Quakes. Despite last week’s come-from-behind tie against Chicago the results just haven’t been coming for the Sounders. One of the aims of Seattle manager is to capitalize and improve their record at home with more wins.

The idea is to see a revival of his group on the eve of contested second half and star making a move towards a spot above the red line. Very well, at least capitalize in these so called Derbies that always play with the essence of a final. Winning the match against Portland and at home will be motivator to these troubled Sounders. For Manager Schmetzer side success at home, where his squad has been perfect with seven wins versus none from the visiting Portland Timbers.

Contrary to Gio Savarese formation manager Brian Schmetzer will send a 4-2-3-1 formation to counter Portland momentum as well attacking game and get its defense out of balance.
