The Portland Timbers have implemented and option on forward Nathan Fogaça, per the club announcement on this past Friday, going to the 2023 season and an option for 2024.
Fogaça, 23, will play in his second season with the Portland Timbers, signing on May 5, 2022. As the Brazilian forward made his MLS debut for the Timbers back on May 14, 2022, against SKC and scoring a brace to lift them with a 7-2 win.
In that game, he became the first player in franchise history to register a brace in his debut. He finished in the 2022 campaign with Four starts in 11 appearances and logging a total of 404 minutes in the field.
Fogaça, first joined T2 on April 22 via a transfer from Brazilian side Coritiba. Soon after his debut, he posted two 90 minutes performances and with an assist on May 1 against Colorado Rapids 2 a converting a penalty kick in T2’s shootout against Real Monarchs on April 24. Fogaça also had a successful 2021 campaign in the USL Championship on loan with San Antonio FC.
In his time with San Antonio FC, he tallied a total of 34 appearances (30 starts) and tallied team best 13 goals and four assists. The Palmeira, Brazil native logged nearly 40 matches played across all competitions with Brazilian side Coritiba between 2018-2020. Fogaça made 12 appearances in Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A in 2020 after Coritiba was promoted making his professional debut the age of 18 in June of 2018 and scoring his first goal weeks later.
