Portland Timbers Academy prospect Marco Farfan has been called by the U.S. Men’s National Team for an international friendly against El Salvador on December 9th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter called up of 22 players to training camp with the majority from Major League Soccer for the Senior Team’s last match of 2020.
The call up for Marco Farfan to the senior men’s national team somehow marks the first time a prospect from the Timbers Academy has gotten the call after playing before for the U-23 USMNT.
In 2020, Marco Farfan played a total of 14 games with 9 starts and accumulated a total of 854 minutes and was part of the squad that won the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
Marco made an impact for the Timbers and for manager Giovanni Savarese in the lineup. This young man delivered many memorable performances in this 2020 shortened season.
As next season with the competition increasing with newcomer defender Claudio Bravo and Pablo Bonilla, for sure Marco Farfan can step up his game, and no doubts he can earn a starting spot in 2021.
