Norberto Paparatto was one of the surprises in Portland’s starting 11.
A quick first goal was key to a home side victory, and that is what happened. Asprilla would combine with Gaston Fernandez who would put an exquisite assist on Urruti for the only goal of the evening.
Gaston and Urruti, two players with great chemistry, celebrated with equally great emotion. Asprilla and Johnson, the two novelties to the starting 11, soon joined.

Gaston Fernandez, back to the starting 11 for the first time this season added clarity and ideas to the attack. His superb first touch and intelligence to associate with Nagbe and Urruti was a constant headache to DC United defense.
Urruti was always dangerous. Even beyond the goal, his speedy diagonals and tireless pressuring runs keep the defense honest.
Asprilla was incisive all game, breaking the perception of being just good for a second half effort. Defended and attacked, definitely one of the men of the match.
Gaston Fernandez, missing match fitness easily attributed to the lack of competitive minutes awarded by coach Porter, was subbed for Rodney Wallace just 10 minutes on the 2nd half. Gaston had played a great match giving Portland’s attack clarity and fluidity on the passing, plus the goal assist.
One of the biggest headlines of the night was Will Johnson being back as the team’s captain.
Adi came on the pitchfor Maxi Urruti and had his chance on a header from the penalty point.
