Ottawa, ON (Sunday July 8, 2018) – On this humid Sunday afternoon, the Ottawa Fury FC received the Riverhounds from Pittsburgh.
After being away for the last five USL matches, expectations were high, from the team and the 4,826 fans.
The first half had a good pace. Both teams kept pushing each other and trying to create opportunities.
The Riverhounds were the first, and ultimately the only side, to have been able to score. It is at minute 22′ that defender Hugh Roberts was able to take advantage of an initial block from Maxime Crépeau, and scored with a cross while the defensive line and the goalkeaper weren’t simply unable to stop.
Fury kept on fighting back until the half-time to try to at the very least equalize the match, but were unable to complete their plays.
The second half was pretty similar to the first. Maxime blocked an incredible shot by their rival early on after coming back from the break. Unfortunately for Fury FC, they were unable to score and the final score closed off with the 1-0 in favor of the Riverhounds.
Ottawa has two back to back matches in the upcoming week. They will receive Penn FC on July 14 and then Toronto FC for the 1st leg of the semi-finals of the Canadian Championship.
