VANCOUVER, BC–The Vancouver Whitecaps moved back above the playoff line while Minnesota United was dropped back below it after the former defeated the latter, 2-1, at BC Place. Brian White was the Man of the Match as his initial shot before halftime was saved by Tyler Miller, but knocked in for an own goal by Michael Boxall. White then got a goal of his own in the 63rd minute following service from Ryan Gauld.

Fanendo Adi scored a consolation goal for the Loons, but it was not enough as they are now behind Real Salt Lake  based on wins for the seventh and final playoff spot in the West. The Whitecaps are two points above that fray in fifth at present.

Gerrit te Hennepe has the photos from Wednesday night’s action at BC Place below:

The Whitecaps next play on Tuesday at LAFC at 7:30pm PT while the Loons look to rebound against Sporting Kansas  City on Sunday on ESPN at 12pm CT.
