VANCOUVER, BC–It had been 539 days since the Whitecaps had been able to host games at BC Place. It ended up worth the wait as Ryan Gauld’s 89th minute strike gave the Whitecaps a 2-1 win over LAFC. Diego Rossi put LAFC up from the penalty spot in the 16th minute, but Ryan White would equalize for the Whitecaps at the hour mark.

Then, Ryan Raposo sent a picture-perfect cross in the 89th to Gauld who got his first goal in a Whitecaps shirt and made it back-to-back wins and unbeaten in eight for the Whitecaps who are now just three points below the red line.

LAFC are now winless in their last seven and are also below the red line, level on points with Vancouver and three behind seventh-place San Jose.
