VANCOUVER, BC–Vancouver’s playoff hopes hit some dissolute chords as they fell, 3-0, to Nashville SC at BC Place on Saturday night. Randall Leal took an errant Sebastian Berhalter pass in the defensive third, took it fifty yards and scored from 25 yards out for a goal of the year candidate finish in the 19th minute. Four minutes later, Jack Maher headed in Hany Mukhtar’s corner kick to double the Coyotes’ advantage. Maher would double his scoring tally four minutes into the second half after heading in a Mukhtar free kick after Ethan Zubak’s flick-on header.

Insult was added to the Whitecaps’ injured playoff hopes in the 53rd minute after Lucas Cavallini was sent off for a stomp on Alex Muyl.

The Whitecaps remain two points outside the playoff line in ninth place, but with LA Galaxy having three matches in hand above them and Seattle and Colorado having a match in hand below them. Nashville jump to fifth on 39 points and five points above the playoff line and four points out of fourth-place FC Dallas.
