The Sounders scored six minutes into the match against Atlanta United as Raul Ruidiaz headed in a corner. It looked like for a while that would be enough for the Sounders to coast to a fifth-straight win, but Atlanta would get a penalty five minutes from time after Brooks Lennon was taken down in the box by Brad Smith. Josef Martinez would convert the spot kick a minute later and the Five Stripes left Seattle with a point.

The Sounders remain unbeaten and top of the West, four points clear of Sporting Kansas City. As for Atlanta, late strikes in back-to-back games have resulted in four points and vaulted them to fifth in the East.
