FOXBOROUGH, MA–On a snowy night at Gillette Stadium, Real Salt Lake rallied from two goals down to defeat New England, 3-2, including a stoppage time goal by Tate Schmitt. Emmanuel Boateng put the Revolution up just before halftime and Jozy Altidore doubled their advantage on 62 minutes. However, RSL came back in the final fifteen minutes of the match on goals by Sergio Cordova (78th minute), Justen Glad (88th), and finally Schmitt three minutes into second half stoppage time and with virtually the last kick of the match.

According to our photographer Kari Heistad, who braved the weather to provide photos like the ones below, players had asked at one point that the match stopped, but the officials refused.

Revs forward Carles Gil did not hold back after the match talking with WSBK-TV Boston about what he felt about playing in the snow.

“It’s impossible to play football today,” the reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP award winner told the local broadcast crew. “I cannot talk with my teammates, I cannot run, I cannot do anything. It’s impossible, this is not football. Stop the f—ing game. We play tomorrow or any other day, I don’t care. This is not football, it’s impossible. Try to make long balls, the wind, it’s impossible. I don’t understand nothing.”

As mentioned below, Kari has our photos from Saturday evening:
