Brandon Bye scored first for New England and VAR gave New England a decisive penalty which Carles Gil converted either side of a Mauricio Moreno penalty for the Five Stripes as the Revolution defeated Atlanta United, 2-1. Emerson Hyndman’s foul of Tajon Buchanan was initially ruled outside of the area, but VAR Sorin Stoica signaled for referee Chris Penso to take a further look and after review, Penso pointed to the spot.
