ATLANTA, GA–Atlanta United coach Gonzalo Pineda said he needed ‘warriors’ and got them on Wednesday night as they defeated Real Salt Lake, 2-1, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ronaldo Cisneros got a brace inside of 33 minutes for the Five Stripes while Johan Kappelhof pulled one back for the Claret and Cobalt in the 37th minute. However, RSL got no closer and Atlanta picked up a massive three points to get them within three points of 7th-place Charlotte.
