Philadelphia Union starlet Brenden Aaronson is expected to receive his first US Men’s National Team call-up.
USMNT are set to face Cuba and Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League next week, and ahead of the games, Gregg Berhalter is expected to bring in fresh blood, namely in the form of one of Union’s brightest young stars.
Aaronson has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Philadelphia this season, making 27 league appearances in what has been a successful season so far for Union, qualifying for the play-offs and remaining in the hunt for a top two spot heading into the final week.
The 18-year-old midfielder had already received recognition at youth level, playing for the US under-23 in September, but he is now expected to handed a chance to impress in the senior setup, according to MLSsoccer.com.
USMNT are winless in three games, Gregg Berhalter’s men last winning in the Gold Cup semi-final with Jamaica back in July, which could be why the US boss is keen to bring in some new talent.
Aaronson, it seems, having caught the eye with such an impressive campaign, racking up three goals this season, will come in at just the right time with Berhalter keen to see who could add the required spark to his faltering attack.
USMNT have only scored more than one goal in one of their last six outings.
