Philadelphia continued its malaise-filled stretch into the rain-delayed game Saturday evening against Sporting Kansas City, with one notable exception – the Union’s star keeper Andre Blake returned to goal after suffering a grade 1 groin injury.  Although Blake opted against kicking, he still managed to record 4 saves.

Things still didn’t seem quite right for the Union in the first half.  Philadelphia’s passes were off and often intercepted.

The second half felt better,  with 13 of the 17 shots coming then.  All four of Tim Melia’s saves  for Sporting Kansas City came in the second half.  As Philadelphia started to come alive offensively, Melia worked to slow down the game and ultimately was able to keep the 0-0 draw.
