SEATTLE, WA–In preparation for Sunday’s NWSL Semifinal against Kansas City Current, Megan Rapinoe and other members of OL Reign were part of a ceremony to raise OL Reign’s flag to the top of the landmark Space Needle. It is the fourth straight trip to semifinals for OL Reign who are looking for their first championship appearance since 2015.
“I can see my apartment from here, so it’s very much home. So to be able to do this in Seattle, be a part of this, and have the city recognize our club like this is really special.,” Rapinoe said. “I’ve said for a long time that Seattle is very much a Sounders city. And I think it’s becoming much more of a soccer city and supporting both teams. Obviously, being here for 10 years, just seeing the growing support is amazing. (I’m) really excited going into Sunday.”
OL Reign takes on Kansas City Current on Sunday at 4:30pm PT on CBS Sports Network where a record crowd for Seattle is expected at Lumen Field.
