The Tacoma OL Reign beat the Portland Thorns on May 23, 2021 at their home stadium of Providence Park in Portland, OR. A disputed, physical, and at times rough game had the visiting side come on top with a two goal come back after an early goal by Thorns Christine Sinclair, who opened the score in minute 4. The Thorns forward picked up a ball in the front of the box and put past OL Reign keeper Karen Bardsley with a classy chip. In minute 9, Megan Rapinoe evened the score with an equally classy free kick, and midfielder Shirley Cruz, put the second goal in minute 15 after an assists from Dany Weatheholt. The first half finished with 6 minutes of added time due to the numerous fouls that required assistance from the teams medical staff.
