16′ Kekuta Manneh had a go from close range. Josh Saunders made a meal of the save almost fumbling it over the goal line.
29′ GOAL Frank Lampard sends the handful of Chelsea supporters in the corner into delirium as he tucks home Angelino’s cross from the left. A trademark late run from the Englishman.
50′ With little connection in the final third Vancouver had to rely on set pieces for any chance of finding a goal. Mauro Rosales swung it in, finding Waston at the back post, however his low header was superbly palmed out by Saunders before being cleared.
88′ GOAL Kendall Waston was tripped by Angelino after Jordan Smith had smashed a 30 yard screamer down Saunders’ throat. Pedro Morales showed the composure to slip the ball under the outstretched Saunders from the penalty spot.
90’+4 GOAL David Villa coolly finished off the last minute penalty to give NYCFC an unlikely win in the West after Matias Laba brought down Frank Lampard on the edge of the penalty box.
The loss now means Vancouver are losing their hold on top spot with the potential of falling all the way to fifth in a very tight Western Conference.
