New England went ahead 1-0 on a 28th minute goal from Adam Buksa after blown marking by Francisco Calvo, but the Fire would find the equalizer in the 70th minute when Jonathan Bornstein headed in a cross from Djordje Mihailovic. It was Bornstein’s first MLS goal in 12 years when he was a member of Chivas USA.
