Foxborough, Massachusetts – It was a convincing victory for the Revolution over a Inter Miami side that seemed to never get off the plane. It was Damian Rivera and Adam Buska who scored the goals for the Revolution who hope to now have their season back on track.
It didn’t take long for the hosts to find the back of the net as reigning MLS MVP Carles Gil to find the feet of 19 year-old Damian Rivera who was able to find the back of the net. It was his first ever MLS goal, he was making only his fourth appearance for the Revolution after graduating from their academy in 2019. The goal was scored after only after 58 seconds, leaving Inter Miami already facing an uphill battle only a minute into the game.
Things went from bad to worse for Inter Miami after newfound star striker Leonardo Campana was forced off with a injury in the 12th minute. Then defender Aime Mabika would also be forced off with an injury in the 19th minute. The rest of the first half would be a series of great goalkeeper play from Nick Marsman who had three big saves to keep the score 1-0 going into half.
The second half was more of the same for both sides, The Revolution would control the tempo of the game with Inter Miami waiting to strike on the counter. A task that quickly became an improbable after defender Damion Lowe received his second yellow of the game in the 60th minute. It wouldn’t take long for the Revolution to take advantage of the 10 men Inter Miami side, scoring just four minutes later. This time it would be Adam Buska who’s head would find the ball after a perfectly placed cross from DeJuan Jones. The goal would give the Revolution a 2-0 lead, one that would keep true through until the final whistle.
Whats next for Inter Miami?
For the Herons the only thing left to do is go back to Miami licking their wounds and hope the return of the Campana and Mabika won’t be a long one. If so manager Phil Neville will hope multiple holes to fill for their next game as he’ll also be missing two players through suspension. With this loss they fall to 12th in the Eastern Conference standings. They will have a chance to start climbing the table again on May 7th at 3:30pm as they will visit Charlotte F.C
Whats next for New England?
The Revolution came into this season with high hopes in MLS and the Champions League, hopes of the Champions League faded quickly after being eliminated by Pumas in the Quarter-Finals. Accompany that with a slow start in the MLS and fans were starting to worry. Things seem to be turning around now with two wins out of the previous three. They will look to keep this momentum as they will host the Columbus Crew on May 7th at 7:30pm.
