Portland extended its undefeated streak to eight games with a one-all draw against the Montreal Impact Wednesday at Providence Park.
Portland’s Jack McInerney scored first with a header off of a Jack Jewsbury corner in the 14th minute, but the Impact refused to go into the half trailing the Timbers. Montreal’s Ignacio Piatti plowed through tackles from two Portland defenders before slotting the ball past Timbers keeper Jake Gleeson to bring the two sides even in the 45th minute.
It was a quick turnaround for the Timbers who played Sunday at New York Red Bulls. The Portland side will play again Sunday at home against the I-5 rival Seattle Sounders.
