Seattle Sounders 4-Houston Dynamo 1
The Sounders played a rare monday night game this week, defeating the Houston Dynamo 4-1.
The game played on a rainy night had the Sounders on the front foot right from the opening whistle. the Sounders created two half chances in the first 2 minutes and it looked like a long night for the Dynamo.
Both teams played missing some key players as Gustav Svennson and Rual Ruidiaz were called into their respective national teams. The Sounders were able to keep Nico Loderio and Jordy Delem who were to join up with their national teams after the match. Houston was without both Alberth Elis and Romell Quito who were with Honduras.
The constant pressure in the 17th as Will Bruin with a shot into the upper V scores to make it 1-0. Bruins strike finished off a great sequence by Nouhou and Cristian Roldan. The Sounders continue to press forward with Houston content to counter. The Dynamo create a few chances on the counter but nothing too troubling for the Sounders back line. The Sounders turn the tables in the 33rd minute as the Sounders counter Houston and Roldan finishes off the Loderio pass 2-0 Sounders.
The Dynamo came out to start the second half with a point to prove. The Dynamo was on the front foot to start the half. The Sounders absorbed pressure until midfielder Cristan Roldan seemed to say enough is enough as he turned in a man of the match performance and turned the tide back to the Sounders.
Victor Rodriguez with his first of two goals scored in the 63rd. finishing off a Kelvin Leerdam cross by putting a deflected shot past Joe Willis. Rodriguez’s second goal was the goal of the night as he finished a nifty pass from Handwalla Bwana to make it 4-0.
The Sounders were cruising. a couple of subs later and the Sounders a little off and the Dynamo pushing for a goal scored in the 86th minute as DeMarcus Beasley scores a goal as the Sounders appeared to be confused with a reshuffled backline. that ended the scoring and the Sounders win was secure.
