Sporting KC 0 Houston Dynamo 2
The slide continues for Sporting Kansas City as the winless streak reaches six matches as a trip to struggling Houston was not what the doctor ordered.
Despite starting brightly two first half goals were conceded to the hosts and there was difficulty in finding a response. So after a nice and successful start to the season Sporting finds themselves in an early season slump with a midweek game at the Western Conference leaders Colorado Rapids.
Thoughts
As compared to playing the Galaxy last week here there was nearly zero shots after the Brad Davis wonder goal there was plenty of shots that got moderately close to going in. But finishing off a scrappy goal counts as much in the book as a fabulous goal.
Scoring wise the goals have been great to watch. Thing is the occasional crap goal, as much as we prefer something with a bit of class, shows not just fight but an attitude that they are hungry and thirsty for success.
Week to week MLS is a difficult league presenting a multitude of difficulties. Sometimes the ball just isn’t spinning in the right direction.
Only way to deal with it is to take it full on and see what happens and a road match Wednesday provides that with another opportunity to show your the nuts.
Ideas
Have Dom Dwyer sit on the bench and bring him on. Keeping the opposition guessing right up til kickoff and throwing them off their game with Diego Rubio seems a good idea and perhaps we will see it on Wednesday. The boy is hungry and while a call up to Chile for the provisional Copa America squad didn’t happen perhaps there is a fire that and be harnessed. Worse case scenario Dom comes off the bench to score a brace and you pick up the points and prove me wrong.
Do it Peter.
Swope Park Rangers 0 Saint Louis FC 3
I enjoyed winning in the cup over St Louis. Its something that is in every Sporting Kansas City fan, Kansas City Chiefs fan(or was), and Kansas City Royals fan.
If you are a KC sports fan you cheer for any team from across Missouri to lose. It is ingrained in the blood.
So ya this one hurts despite it being on the road.
But as it is the first year together for these players road bumps will happen while Mark Dos Santos finds a way to make a winner.
In his time at North American Soccer League side Ottawa Fury it took a couple seasons to create a winner and when they did they finished the second year as league runner-ups.
Swope Park sign Jaylin Lindsey
The fourth academy signing by the club at age 16 the defender joins other academy players Steven Tekesky, Will Little, and Ezra Armstrong.
Wasting no time he made his debut coming on as a second half sub.
Giving the academy players a chance is why SPR was formed and make a supply of youth players for the parent club Sporting Kansas City to bring through.
